| Description |
English: Danebower industrial heritage Despite the moorland landscape, this view contains the remains of two substantial quarries and a colliery.
The chimney belongs to the latter. This was Danebower Colliery, which remained active until around 1920. The main buildings of the colliery were in the hollow below the chimney. There were separate quarries on opposite sides of the valley. To the left was Danebower Quarry, the spoil tips of which can be seen silhouetted against the far moorland. To the right are the spoil tips of Reeve-edge Quarry. Both these quarries produced thin stone flags for roofing. |
