Description Mike Darrow, chief of the Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers water resource division, and his wife, Dana, were among the 300 participants at this year's Paddle for the Border event on the Dismal Swamp Canal. Their journey started at the Dismal Swamp State Park in South Mills, N.C., and ended 7.5 miles upstream in Virginia. (U.S. Army Photo/Pam Spaugy)
