Title
Damaged tweezers
Description
English: Most of a pair of tweezers, now in three pieces. The tips of the arms are now missing, and the tweezers are now a maximum of 6 mm wide. They taper evenly towards the expanded loop, which is 4 mm wide. A groove runs up either long side and over the loop, but there is no other decoration. The metal is an unusual grey/beige colour, which suggests a lead alloy, but the object is also rather light, which might perhaps suggest an alloy predominantly of tin. The broken edges are very fresh, but a darker brown colour which does not help in identifying the metal. The object has a surviving length of 46.44mm and weighs 2.12g. Tweezers of this type are hard to date precisely; they may be of any date from Roman to medieval. 43-1500 AD.
