Description	English: The damaged U.S. Navy destroyer escort USS Witter (DE-636) anchored off Okinawa, Japan, in May 1945. Witter had been hit by a "Kamikaze" on 6 April 1945. Six crewmembers were killed. She arrived at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard, Pennsylvania (USA) on 16 August 1945. It was planned to convert her to a high-speed transport (APD-58). due to the end of the Second World War, the conversion stopped on 22 August. Witter was then sold for scrap in December 1946.
