English: Damage to Potman's Heath Channel Flood Wall. The flood in February (seen in 1163512) has caused damage to the flood walls beside the River Rother and Potman's Heath Channel. Although this does show how these walls are made.
Two rows of Steel Sheet Piles (one with a concrete top - on the right) have been driven into earth, then earth is ramed in around them and battered back to make a embankment behind. See http://www.deepexcavation.com/retainingsystems_sheetpile.html for more details on Sheet Piling. |
