| Description |
English: Dale Abbey. St Mary's Abbey was founded by premonstratensian monks around 1200. In common with other monastic institutions in England it was dissolved in 1538; today the east window arch is the most prominent surviving part of the structure. A short path through this field of buttercups leads from the village to the arch, which is currently swathed in scaffolding.
