Structurally tilted sandstone in the Cretaceous of Utah, USA. The Dakota Sandstone and its correlatives are a widespread package of sandy siliciclastics deposited in the ancient Western Interior Seaway of North America. The unit dates to the late Early Cretaceous and early Late Cretaceous The ridge of rocks at center is an outcrop of structurally tilted Dakota Sandstone in Dinosaur National Monument, Utah. The gray rocks in the background at left are shales of the Upper Jurassic Morrison Formation.
