Description
Français : Le Palais Longchamp achevé en 1869, est un monument qui célèbre l'arrivée de l'eau de la Durance à Marseille. Par son orientation, son architecte Henri-Jacques Espérandieu, lui a aussi donnée une symbolique astronomique. En effet le jour du solstice d'hivers, le soleil se couche précisément dans l'ouverture au centre de la construction. Depuis la bute du parc qui domine le monument, la rambarde où repose les colonnes des statues se situe au niveau de la ligne d'horizon.
