English: There is a room that displays all the awards and presentations that can be given on behalf of the Government of Canada, this really interested me as I did not know we had our (Canadian) own Victoria Cross..
Canadian version of the Victoria Cross, this (Canadian Version - created in 1993) has never been presented - I hope it never has to be. The Victoria Cross is the highest award of the United Kingdom honours system. It was previously awarded to Canada and other Commonwealth countries, most of which including Canada have established their own honours systems. Today, the Victoria Cross, is the highest award within the Canadian honours system. Modifications for the Canadian Victoria Cross, being the inclusion of Canadian flora as decoration and the alteration of the inscription on the scroll from FOR VALOUR to the Latin translation, PRO VALORE, so as to accommodate Canada's two official languages. |
