Summary
[edit]| Description |
English: If you travel to Prince Edward Island by ferry from Caribou, you will see this lighthouse shortly after leaving Nova Scotia. The first lighthouse was built in 1868 and was a keeper's dwelling and light tower.
In the first years of operation, there was lots of erosion from the banks and the lighthouse had to be moved back. The second light was built in 1916. This was a square dwelling with an octagonal lantern placed on top. The third lighthouse is the one that remains here today and was constructed in 1971. It features a commonly used design for this time period, a square cement tower positioned in one corner of a one-story building. In 2018 all that remained was the main tower. |
