English: Apple River Lighthouse.
I tried to find a way to the lighthouse but couldn't, maybe someday.... Apparently there is a logging road that goes in that direction but ends before the lighthouse - approx. a 16km hike. Notice there is no indication at there are power poles to follow to the lighthouse. The Apple River feeds into Chignecto Bay, which connects with the Bay of Fundy. The first light aid in 1848 consisted of two lights exhibited from windows of a private dwelling, it burned down in 1869. An official lighthouse was built in 1870 it consisted of an octagonal lantern supported by a square tower on top of the keeper's dwelling. The present lighthouse dates from 1965, it is a square white tower which has had its lantern room removed. Location: On Cape Capstan, (Hetty Point), north entrance Tower Height: 10.7m (35ft) Light Height: 21.6m (71ft) above water level |
