Summary
[edit]| Description |
English: Montreal Olympic Stadium built for the 1976 Summer Olympics, it is nicknamed "The Big O”. The stadium has the largest by seating capacity in Canada. After the Olympics, artificial turf was installed and it became the home of Montreal's professional baseball and football teams. The stadium now is used as a multipurpose facility for special events (e.g. concerts, trade shows) with a permanent seating capacity of 56,040 and is expandable with temporary seating. The stadium is no longer home of the Expos who left in 2004.
The roof was originally white and was painted yellow so a baseball could still be seen when hit high. The city has just recently approved for the roof to be replaced. |
