Summary
[edit]DescriptionDORIS III Wiggler.jpg |
English: The storage ring DORIS at DESY accelerated particles to almost the speed of light. When subjected to the influence of special magnets called wigglers, they emit very intense synchrotron radiation. Scientists used the X-ray radiation to decipher the structure of materials and molecules down to the atomic level. The picture shows an open DORIS wiggler. The thin beam pipe of the DORIS storage ring is visible in the centre. |
