Jimmie Vaughan’s 1963 Fender Stratocaster. On Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024, the LBJ Presidential Library and the Bruce Springsteen Archives & Center for American Music at Monmouth University opened a new exhibition Music America: Iconic Objects from America's Music History. The exhibition will be on display through August 11, 2024. The exhibition features more than one hundred objects representing the best of American music, spanning decades and genres. Music America is curated by the Bruce Springsteen Archives & Center for American Music in association with the New Orleans Jazz Museum and Hard Rock International, along with dozens of prominent collectors of American music ephemera.
JIMMIE VAUGHAN'S 1963 FENDER STRATOCASTER
The older brother of Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmie Vaughan was
a key member of the Fabulous Thunderbirds, the group that
did much to ignite the 1980s blues renaissance. Vaughan's
deep knowledge of the blues, particularly Texas blues, and
his meticulously crafted guitar riffs helped make signature
Thunderbirds' songs such as “Tuff Enuff” and “Wrap It Up” ideal
examples of modern blues.
Vaughan played this 1963 Fender Stratocaster during much of his
tenure with the Fabulous Thunderbirds.
