Deutsch: Das Wappen wurde, nachdem Vegesack 1851 Stadtrechte und 1879 eine Kommunalverfassung erhielt, im Jahr 1880 angenommen und 1882 vom Bremer Senat als Aufsichtsinstanz genehmigt. Die Stadt führte das Wappen bis zu seiner Eingemeindung nach Bremen am 1. November 1939. Das Tatzenkreuz wird auch als Hanseatenkreuz bezeichnet, eine ursprünglich für die hanseatischen Teilnehmer der Befreiungskriege gestiftete Auszeichnung, die in Bremen noch im Ersten Weltkrieg verliehen wurde. Der Bremer Schlüssel ist das Symbol des heiligen Petrus, des Patrons des Bistums und der Stadt Bremen |
