Deutsch: Die 1973/75 gebildete Gemeinde führt den Namen des einst im Nordschwarzwald bedeutenden Adelsgeschlechts der Herren von Straubenhardt. Die Ortsteile Conweiler, Feldrennach, Langenalb, Schwann und das zu Ottenhausen gehörende Rudmersbach sind hochmittelalterliche Ausbauorte der Straubenhardter selbst oder innerhalb ihres Herrschaftsbereichs. Nach der Zerstörung ihrer Stammburg (Ruinen auf Gemarkung Dennach/Stadt Neuenbürg) bauten sie eine Burg in Schwann. In einen Teil ihrer Rechte traten nach dem Erlöschen des Geschlechts 1442 die mit ihnen verwandten Schöner von Straubenhardt ein, die bis 1602 auch einen Anteil an Ottenhausen besaßen und ihr Wappen um das der älteren Straubenhardter vermehrten. Das am 3. Mai 1976 vom Landratsamt zusammen mit der Flagge verliehene Wappen ist eine modifizierte und vereinfachte Form des Wappens der Schöner von Straubenhardt. |
