Deutsch: Das Wappen weist auf zwei für die Gemeinde wichtige ehemalige Herrschaftsinhaber hin. In der vorderen Schildhälfte steht das Wappen des Würzburger Hochstifts, der Fränkische Rechen, in der hinteren Schildhälfte das Wappen der Grafen von Henneberg. Schonungen gehörte zum hennebergischen Amt Mainberg, das 1542 an den Würzburger Bischof verkauft wurde, der bis zum Ende des Alten Reichs die Orts- und Landesherrschaft in Schonungen innehatte. |
