Summary
[edit]Coat of arms InfoField | Deutsch: Stadt Ratingen English: City of Ratingen Français : Ville de Ratingen |
English: „Party per fess Argent and gules, a crowned and armed azure demi lion gules and below a six-spoked wheel Argent.“
The arms were officially first granted on December 30, 1909 with five spokes and a mural crown and last on October 3rd, 1972. Ratingen became a city in 1276 and the oldest seal dates from the same time. It shows a church with the lion of the counts, later dukes, of Berg. Later seals show the same image. In 1430 the present arms appear on the seal above the church. The wheel adverts to a former court in the town, the lion is still the lion of Berg. |
