Object history
Deutsch: Der im Kandertal gelegene Ort, bereits im 8. Jahrhundert urkundlich erwähnt, gehörte zur Herrschaft Rötteln. Mit dieser kam er an die Markgrafen von Hachberg-Sausenberg und 1503 an die Markgrafen von Baden. Nach dem Dreißigjährigen Krieg bildete Rümmingen nur eine Stabhalterei innerhalb der Vogtei des benachbarten Binzen und wurde erst zu Beginn des 19. Jahrhunderts selbstständige Gemeinde. Die Gemeindesiegel, von denen das älteste in einem Abdruck aus dem Jahre 1811 belegt ist, zeigten im 19. Jahrhundert lediglich den badischen Wappenschild. Daher schlug das Generallandesarchiv als Wappen eine Kombination des wachsenden roten Löwen in Gold aus dem Wappen der Herren von Rötteln mit dem Obstbaum als Symbol für den damals in Rümmingen betriebenen Obstbau vor. Die Gemeinde nahm dieses Wappen im Jahre 1907 an. Die Flagge wurde am 16. August 1993 vom Landratsamt Lörrach verliehen.
