Object history
Deutsch: Die neben dem Dorf „Noppenowe" zusammen mit einer Burg von Kloster Allerheiligen angelegte Stadt, die zunächst den Namen Friedberg führte, kam 1319 an das Hochstift Straßburg, bei dem sie mit Unterbrechungen bis zum Anfall an Baden 1803 blieb. Die etwas eigenartige Zeichnung des städtischen Symbols von Mauer und Torturm kann die Herkunft aus dem Rund des Siegels nicht verbergen. Diese heute maßgebliche Wappenzeichnung wurde 1948 nach dem aus dem 14. Jahrhundert stammenden ältesten Stadtsiegel (Abdrucke ab 1425) geschaffen. In späteren Siegeln und Wappendarstellungen ist das Burggebäude von einer realistischeren Mauer umschlossen. Form und Qualität der Darstellung des Siegel- und Wappenbildes wechselten bis in jüngste Zeit. Die Tingierung wurde 1959 festgelegt, sie ist an den straßburgischen Farben orientiert.
