Object history |
Deutsch: Mömlingen ist seit dem 9. Jahrhundert urkundlich belegt. Zusammen mit dem Großteil des Bachgaues kam der Ort an das Mainzer Domkapitel. Als erste Lehenträger sind die Reitze (Reuße) von Breuberg nachweisbar. 1330 kam der Ort als Mainzer Lehen an die Grafen von Wertheim und die Schenken von Erbach, die auch Allodialbesitz in Mömlingen hatten. Territorialherr war vom 13. Jahrhundert bis zum Ende des Alten Reichs 1803 der Kurstaat Mainz. Daran erinnert das sechsspeichige silberne Rad, das so genannte Mainzer Rad. Die Rosen sind dem Wappen der Grafen von Wertheim entnommen, die Sterne dem Wappen der Schenken von Erbach. Der im 13. Jahrhundert nachweisbare Ortsadel konnte im Wappen nicht berücksichtigt werden, da keine Siegel oder sonstige Nachweise für die Führung eines Wappens bekannt sind. |
