Object history
English: The arms were granted on November 22, 1974. The base shows the lozenges of Bavaria as several estates were for centuries possessions of the Dukes of Bavaria. The crozier symbolises the bishops of Eichstätt, the successors of the Counts of Hirschberg. The area belonged to the bishops until 1803 when it became part of Bavaria. The district belonged until 1305 for the largest part to the Counts of Hirschberg. The antler is taken as a symbol for these Counts. The torch symbolises the industrial area around Ingolstadt.
