Description
English: Coat of arms from the former Kreis Moers: "Per fess and below double-paled. The upper part Or a fess sable, below gules with an escarbuncle Or on an inescutcheon Argent, in the middle Argent a cross sable and right azure a lion rampant Or. The arms were granted on June 24, 1930. The upper part of the arms shows the arms of the Counts of Moers-Saarwerden, as the district is practically identical to the former county of Moers. The lower part shows the arms of the other rulers in the district : the escarbuncle of the Dukes of Kleve, the cross of the State of Köln and the lion of Dukes of Geldern.
Deutsch: Wappen des ehemaligen Kreises Moers: "Ein geteilter, unten zweimal gespaltener Schild. Oben in Gold (Gelb) ein schwarzer Balken, unten Feld 1 eine achtstrahlige goldene (gelbe) Lilienhaspel mit silbernem (weißem) Herzschildchen in Rot, Feld 2 ein schwarzes Kreuz in Silber (Weiß), Feld 3 in Blau ein goldener (gelber) Löwe." Das Wappen wurde am 24. Juni 1930 angenommen. Bedeutung: Die alte Grafschaft Moers bildete den größten Teil des Kreises (oberes Feld), die drei unteren Wappenbilder bringen die übrigen Gebietsteile mit deren ehemaliger Zugehörigkeit zum Ausdruck: Feld 1 Herzogum Kleve, Feld 2 Kurfürsten- und Erzbistum Köln und Feld 3 Herzogtum Geldern.
