Object history
Deutsch: Itzing war und ist eine vorwiegend agrarisch strukturierte Gemeinde; daran erinnern im Gemeindewappen die schräg gekreuzten goldenen Ähren als bäuerliche Symbole. Die Geschichte der Gemeinde stand in enger Verbindung mit dem Zisterzienserkloster Kaisheim, das seit 1395 der maßgebliche Grund- und Dorfherr in Itzing gewesen ist. Kennzeichen von Kaisheim ist wie bei anderen Zisterzienserklöstern auch der in zwei Reihen von Rot und Silber geschachte Balken, der sog. Zisterzienserbalken. Als geschichtlich begründetes Sinnbild kann er mit dem Landwirtschaftssymbol der Ähren verbunden werden.
