Object history
Deutsch: Gutach wurde mit der Herrschaft Hornberg in der ersten Hälfte des 15. Jahrhunderts an Württemberg veräußert und ging 1810 an Baden über. Das Wappen, 1901 vom Generallandesarchiv entworfen, erinnert mit der Hirschstange im Schildhaupt an die einstige Zugehörigkeit Gutachs zu Württemberg. Schon das älteste Siegel des Stabs Gutach aus dem Jahre 1750 zeigte in gespaltenem runden Schild vorn die drei württembergischen Hirschstangen. Das hintere Feld nahm ein Laubbaum ein, möglicherweise eine Anspielung darauf, dass das Wirtshaus Zur Linde bis ins 19. Jahrhundert Rathaus und Gerichtsstätte bildete. Ein Laubbaum war das einzige Bildmotiv der Gemeindesiegel des 19. Jahrhunderts. Der Wellenschildfuß soll die Lage der Gemeinde im Tal der Gutach symbolisieren.
