Deutsch: Das Wappen wurde am 30. Oktober 1907 durch den preußischen König verliehen. Die Bordüre steht für die 16 Honschaften der Stadt; das Stadttor erinnert an die 1856 verliehenen Stadtrechte. Das Rad und der Stern stehen für eine Reliquie der hl. Katharina, welche dem 1185 erbauten Frauenstift Anfang des 14. Jahrhunderts geschenkt wurde. Die dreitürmige Mauerkrone galt Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts für viele kleinere Städte als wichtiges Symbol. |
