Deutsch: Das Wappen wurde am 5. Juni 1939 durch den Oberpräsidenten der preußischen Provinz Westfalen verliehen. Die 1966 um die ehemaligen Gemeinden Eisern, Gosenbach, Ober- und Niederschelden erweiterte Stadt führte ab 1967 das ehemalige Amtswappen weiter. Es zeigt das chemische Zeichen für Eisen und den Eingang des in Eiserfeld liegenden Reinhold-Forster-Erbstollens sowie das Bergmannsgezäh.
English: The arms were granted on June 5, 1939. The alchemical symbol and the adit sybolise an iron mine, called "Reinhard Forster Erbstollen", hammer and pick symbolise the long mining tradition in the city. |
