Object history
Deutsch: Als Gemeindewappen wurde mindestens seit 1937 eine silberne Pflugschar in Rot geführt. In den Siegeln erschien daneben auch ein Pflug in naturalistischer Darstellung in einem Wappenschild. Da die Pflugschar in den Gemeindewappen des Landes sehr oft vertreten ist, schien es geraten, ein anderes Wappen anzunehmen. Hierfür zog man das ein wenig abgeänderte Wappen der Maier von Tuningen (vergleiche Tuningen) heran, die aber mit Dunningen und seinem mittelalterlichen Ortsadel wohl nicht in Zusammenhang stehen. Die Tingierung in Silber und Rot wurde von dem vorherigen Wappen übernommen. Am 4. März 1952 verlieh das Innenministerium Württemberg-Hohenzollern das Recht zur Führung des Wappens. Die Flagge wurde am 1. April 1952 durch das Staatsministerium verliehen. Die Eingemeindung von Lackendorf (1972) und Seedorf (1974) zog keine Änderung des Wappens nach sich.
