Object history
Deutsch: Der Ort, als Rodungssiedlung des hohen Mittelalters entstanden, liegt auf der Hochfläche des Nordschwarzwaldes. Etwa fünf Sechstel der Gemarkung sind mit Wald bedeckt. Vorwiegend der Wald und das Waldgewerbe, aber auch die Landwirtschaft waren früher die Haupterwerbsquelle der Bevölkerung. Heute wird die Gemeinde, die das Prädikat „heilklimatischer Kurort" trägt, vom Fremdenverkehr und seinen Einrichtungen geprägt. Das Schultheißenamtssiegel des 19. Jahrhunderts zeigte die von zwei Lorbeerzweigen umgebene Initiale D des Ortsnamens. Seit 1939 führte Dobel im Siegel ein Wappen mit einem Landschaftsmotiv (Berge, Tanne und Sonne), das sich auf die geographische Lage des Ortes bezieht und werbewirksam für den Fremdenverkehr ist. Mit vereinfachtem und heraldisch verbessertem Bild wurde das Wappen zusammen mit der Flagge am 25. Januar 1968 vom Innenministerium verliehen.
