Deutsch: Die Symbole im Gemeindewappen gehen zurück auf eine jahrhundertealte Geschichte.
Das Kloster St. Thomas an der Kyll verdankt sein Bestehen Deudesfeld. Es war der Ritter Ludwig von Deudesfeld, der um 1180 das adelige Zisterzienserinnenkloster in Erlesburen, so hieß früher St. Thomas, gegründet hat. Zur Erinnerung an diese bedeutsame geschichtliche Tatsache nahm Deudesfeld das Zeichen des Zisterzienserordens, einen rot-weiß geschachten Balken in Schwarz auf. Ortspatron von Deudesfeld, das bis 1800 im Amt Manderscheid zum Kurfürstentum Trier zählte, sind seit altersher die Apostel Simon und Judas Thaddäus. Sie führen als Symbol Schreinerwerkzeuge Säge, Beil und Winkelmaß. Als Hinweis auf die beiden Ortspatrone sind daher Axt und Beil im unteren Schild wiedergegeben. |
