Deutsch: Das Wappen entstammt einem Siegel aus dem Jahre 1446; es erinnert an die Stadtwerdung; im Tor ist vermutlich der Bischof des Landesherren, dem Hochstift Paderborn dargestellt. Die Lilie war das Münzeichen des Hochstifts. Zwischenzeitlich führte die Stadt nur die Lilie - "In Gold eine rote Lilie" - im Wappen, verliehen am 28. Juli 1908 durch den preußischen König. |
