Deutsch: Die zunächst staufische, dann reichsunmittelbare Stadt führte schon Mitte des 13. Jahrhunderts den Reichsadler im Siegel. Kaiser Karl V. verlieh ihr am 3. Februar 1528 das jetzige gebesserte Wappen mit dem habsburgischen Löwen im Brustschild des Adlers. Nach der Mediatisierung (1803) trat im Brustschild vorübergehend das badische Wappen an die Stelle des habsburgischen. Das hierzulande in der Kommunalheraldik selten vorkommende Oberwappen wurde im Wappenbrief von 1528 bereits als Teil des noch nicht gebesserten Wappens beschrieben. |
