Summary
[edit]DescriptionDEFECTIVE EQUIPMENT DETECTOR and a GE ES44DC locomotive of the BNSF Railway.jpg |
English: Note the separated sections of track in each direction, just ahead of the locomotive. This DED, as it is called, will automatically detect and report a problem with the passing
equipment. A synthasized voice announcement will advise the engineer of any problems on the railroad's radio frequency. Also referred to as "Hot Box Detectors". It's also helpful for photographers to who might wish to know when a train is approaching. |
