Summary

[edit]
Description A U.S. Navy Lockheed DC-130A Hercules (BuNo 570497) assigned to Composite Squadron VC-3 Bloodhounds at Naval Air Station Point Mugu, California (USA), on 27 January 1983, carrying BQM-34S Firebee drones. This aircraft had been delieverd to the U.S. Air Force as an C-130A-45-LM in 1957 and was retired on 8 January 1979. It was transferred to the U.S. Navy on 13 March 1979 and converted to a DC-130A drone control aircraft. Curiously it kept its USAF serial number and was not assigned a regular USN BuNo. It became the oldest C-130 in US military service and was even deployed to Iraq in 2003. It was finally retired to the AMARC as 2G0055 on 27 June 2007.
