| Description |
English: History is made at 12:50 a.m. Sept. 17, 2012 as Landing Ship Tank 325 becomes the first LST in history to enter the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District’s Cheatham Lock at Ashland City, Tenn. Commissioned Feb. 1, 1943 the USS LST 325 saw extensive combat duty in the European Theater in World War II; service with the Military Sea Transportation Service as USNS LST 325 during arctic operations in the 1950’s and later as L-144 (A/G Syros) while in the service of the Greek Navy. The USS LST Memorial, Inc. obtained the ship in 2000 and will offer public tours of the now fully operational World War II-era ship September 18-24, at Nashville’s Riverfront Park. |
