Description

La frise décorative située à gauche sur les toits des bâtiments de la cour de marbre a été réalisée par François Girardon et Jean-Baptiste Tuby en 1680 et 1681. Les ornements de faîtage, en plomb et étain, ont été réalisées par Etienne Le Hongre, Noël Jouvenet et Pierre Mazeline de 1680 à 1684. Ces décors ont été redorés dans le cadre de la restauration de la cour de marbre à partir de 2006. Sur la balustrade qui court autour de la cour de Marbre et de la Cour royale, dix-huit statues en ronde-bosse d’environ 2 m. de haut symbolisent les quatorze vertus royales et les quatre parties du monde.
