Short title | Cyrillic variant lowercase forms (б, д, г, п, т, ш) |
---|---|
Image title | Variants of lowercase letters in the Cyrillic script: Б/б, Г/г, Ѓ/ѓ, Д/д, И/и, П/п, Т/т, Ш/ш.
Five to six columns show different forms: 1.1. default slab-serif upright (Russian/Eastern), 1.2. alternate slab-serif upright (Bulgarian/Western), 2. sans-serif oblique (i.e. slanted), 3.1. standard italic (Russian/Eastern), 3.2. alternate italic (Serbian/Southern) and 3.3. (rare) disambiguated italic. In traditional Bulgarian typesetting, the upright shapes of characters д (d), г (g), и (i), п (p) and т (t) resemble their cursive forms, i.e. they look similar to Roman lowercase letters g, ƨ (mirrored s), u, n and m, respectively, instead of like small capital letters. In South-European Slavic writing systems, Serbian and Macedonian in particular, alternative italic shapes are preferred for some letters. |
