Description Cyphelium inquinans (Sm.) Trevis., 1862 (photograph of a herbarium specimen taken through a dissecting microscope (x9) showing the yellowish gray thallus and prominent black apothecia) This specimen was in Dr. Elmer George Worthley's private lichen herbarium collection; the label on the packet is as follows:"Museum botan. Univ. Lundensis/ Lichenes suecici/ Cyphelium inquinans (Sm.) Trevis. / Västergötland. Axvall./ 1894/ Leg. Carl Stenholm" (Assigned No. L-648, 1894); specimen is now in the Lichen Herbarium of the New York Botanical Garden.
