Longitude 85° West fr-om 80 Greenwich Distribution of the Population East of the 100th Meridian in 1830 formerly the heart of the agricultural district,440 out of 950 counties decreased from 1900to 1910. In other words, with the exceptionsnoted, the population increase is almost whol-ly confined to municipalities, to increase inthe urban population. Curiously enough, this population increase has been accompanied bya great increase in farm values and the valueof farm products. This rapid encroachment of the urbanupon the rural population is the most signifi-cant deduction to be drawn from our recent 06 747 POPULATION OF THE UNITED STATES
