mmigrant children, a large propor-tion of the children of the foreign-born beingborn in this country. Thus, in 1910, of thetotal foreign-born whites 94 per cent were 15years or more of age; of the native whites ofnative parentage only 64 per cent. For thisreason the foreign-born constitute a much larg-er proportion of the adult population thanthey do of the total population. On the other-hand, for the same reason the proportion ofadults among the native whites of foreign pa-rentage is lower than among the native whitesof native parentage.
