| Description |
English: Cycle path on Greenhead Bank. East of Greenhead, the Military Road which runs parallel to and a short way south of Hadrian's Wall climbs steeply up Greenhead Bank, gaining about 80 metres in elevation in 700 metres. To segregate cyclists on Hadrian's Cycleway from motor traffic, this off-road path has been constructed alongside the road. However, because of the loose surface, any cyclist fit enough to actually stay in the saddle would probably be better off keeping to the road. This photo was taken during the opening of Hadrian's Cycleway in July 2006. http://www.cycle-routes.org/hadrianscycleway |
