Description
English: Cwm Elan lead mine remains Cwm Elan lead mine started in the late 1700s and closed in 1877 with the construction of the Elan Valley Reservoirs. The remains here date largely from the main mining period 1871-1877. In the foreground is the roofless magazine then, from left: the pumping waterwheel pit; the smithy & store, with the mine manager's house & office and the Birmingham Corporation Waterworks house behind; and centre, the crusher house.
