English: The figure shows the location of the system and the difference in elevation that has to be overcome from the lowest point of Pumping Plant No. 1 to convey water to Oscillation Tower No. 5 and subsequently by gravity to the Metropolitan Area of the Valley of Mexico (MAVM).
The Cutzamala System is one of the biggest drinking water supply systems in the world, because of the quantity of water that it supplies (approximately 450 million cubic meters every year), and because of the difference in elevation (1 100 m) that it has to overcome. |
