Summary
[edit]DescriptionCurve on the former mineral railway - geograph.org.uk - 1226303.jpg |
English: Curve on the former mineral railway The trackbed of the old Hilton Main Colliery railway is used to provide farm access. The railway closed with the colliery in 1968: the rails and sleepers were taken up soon after.
This was perhaps a missed opportunity to create a linear path or cycleway through the greenbelt on the edge of Wolverhampton. Parts of the trackbed and the disused Wyrley Branch of the Wyrley & Essington Canal are used by the 15 mile Wulfrun Way from Northicote Farm to Chasewater. |
