Description
English: Curtiss SOC-3A Seagull observation planes of U.S. Navy Scouting Squadron 201 (VS-201) are parked behind the palisade on the flight deck of the escort carrier USS Long Island (AVG-1), in January 1942. The carrier was operating in the vicinity of Argentia, Newfoundland (Canada). It was the only time Long Island operated in northern areas. A cruiser is barely visible on the right.
