CULTURE--Mo$t successfully grown in a deep, rich loamy soil, and, unlike most vegetables, does best when cultivotcd in the some ground tor a suc- cession of years. Manure the ground well in the fall, and turn up in ridges, during the winter, ond as eorly as it will work in the spring rake or harrow thoroughly. Sow thinly in drills '2" deep, rows 12" apart, ond cover with fine soil, pressing it down. Keep the ground free from weeds ond thin out the young plants so they stond 3" or 4" aport. The small onions pulled may be eaten grean and the balance ollowed to moture. 1 ox. to 100 feet of drill, 4 to S lbs. to the acre.
