| Description |
English: Cup-marked capstone, Trellyffant The capstone of this burial chamber appears to have been marked with up to 35 round depressions, each a few centimetres in diameter. This may have been a later, Bronze Age, attempt to appropriate, and perhaps re-use, the earlier, Neolithic, monument. Not all authorities agree on these depressions are deliberate however.
The cupmarks are not very clear in the image owing to the lichen growth which has probably been stimulated by bird droppings (a pellet was present too), but they are evident when felt for. |
