Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Cumberland's Stone This huge boulder supposedly marks the spot where the Duke of Cumberland watched the nearby battle of Culloden take place in 1746.

It lies alongside the B9006 Inverness to Nairn road. Iron steps and handles have been set into the rock - one is visible in this picture. These enable visitors to climb onto the rock to read the inscription carved into it, which reads: "The position of the Duke of Cumberland during the battle of Culloden"

Additional note - the sign explaining the stone https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/384512 - is not currently present at the site.
