Summary
[edit]DescriptionCum sunt decapitați regii cari se împotrivesc voinței poporului..., Facla 24 martie 1923.jpg |
English: Cover of the left-wing republican Facla magazine, with the message Cum sunt decapitați regii cari se împotrivesc voinței poporului... ("How they decapitate kings who oppose the people's wishes..."), a veiled warning to Romania's King Ferdinand from editor N. D. Cocea. The period engraving is introduced as showing the execution of Louis XVI of France in 1792; in reality, it depicts the mass execution of Girondin leaders in 1793 (see La fournée des Girondins). The issue also featured a translation from François-Auguste Mignet, which is also advertised. |
