Summary

[edit]
Description
Deutsch: Kryolith, Aegirin
Größe: ~ 2 x 2½ x 2 cm.
Fundort: Steinbruch Poudrette, Mont Saint-Hilaire, Rouville RCM, Montérégie, Québec, Kanada
Beschreibung: Kryolith? Welcher Kryolith?
English: Cryolite, Aegirine
Size: ~ 2 x 2½ x 2 cm.
Locality: Poudrette quarry (De-Mix quarry; Demix quarry; Uni-Mix quarry; Carrière Mont Saint-Hilaire; MSH), Mont Saint-Hilaire, La Vallée-du-Richelieu RCM, Montérégie, Québec, Canada
Description: Cryolite? What cryolite? Well – the tiny cryolite octahedra coat everything including some of the aegirine. (The group shown in the parent photo is the “bridge” at lower right in this photo.) But it’s not really a cryolite pseudomorph. The white prisms themselves are probably microcline and/or nalcime and/or natrolite after an unknown precursor. The surface (under the cryolite) is actually covered by intergrown analcime xls.
